Guilt

So its been a while since I have posted anything. I am feeling a little guilt about that, since ya know I have so many readers, haha. But what I am kind of down about is not having a pratical wedding. I have been pouring over wedding blogs that feature backyard barbecues, sweet little mason-jar centerpieces, non-floral bouquets to cut costs, and any number of laid-back cool wedding details. "The most important thing is your love and commitment to each other." Well yeah, but I like the pretty party dress too. And when it comes to parties, a down-home BBQ just ain't my thing, and its not my fiance's either. We live on a tight budget but we like to go out to nice dinners, get fancied up, and par-tay. So I guess I just see all these sweet earthy, organic looking weddings and feel like I should aspire for that simplicity too. So I will try and get over myself and just plan my glam wedding and not feel bad about the money spent on premium liquor and know that every guest will have a great time, and hopefully feel the warm and fuzzies too.

What the Heck is That?

So MOH Jill, thinks I am nuts. We all knew it was coming, the day after we got engaged, heck the day of, I was in full on planning mode. Although I try to keep my bridal rants to a minimum, it is all-consuming. Wedding is on the brain 24/7. I had another wedding dream last night that my step-mom told me via email that she invited an extra 100 people and added 2 bridesmaids. I literally checked my email to make sure it was a dream, you never know. So poor Jill gets to hear about all these crazy things I think about and manage to dream up and I almost feel bad for her. Almost, because I have been obsessive about details ever since we have been friends so I would say she is used to me by now. The one thing that takes it over the edge is that my mom and her mom became best friends after we went away to college, and Jill gets to hear wedding details not just from me, but from my mom as well. So I will let this Facebook post speak for itself.Click on it to Make Larger!!

Dream Wedding

I've heard of brides experiencing strange dreams a few months before the wedding day. Some dreams I have read about include the bride showing up and the wedding is already over, or the bride showed up with wet hair and no makeup on. All these stress related dreams seem to occur when its crunch time and all those months of planning and projects are being finished in the weeks before the wedding. Well, I think I have had wedding related dreams for a few months now. Yup. It is kind of embarrassing to admit that I am totally consumed with this process. My mom and her friends are actually concerned that I will suffer from post wedding stress disorder. Although not a medically recognized condition, I might agree as I have no idea what I will fill my evenings with after the honeymoon is over.

So, my dream last night was about my dress. My dream dress. I am anxiously awaiting its arrival and the dream I had about it was cra-zay. The dress was sent in on a Mac truck. Like this dress was the only item that was being shipped on this ginormous truck. It was also shipped to my old high school and my mom, friend Jill, and I had to go pick it up there in the parking lot. I am sure I will have more crazy dreams to come.

Another confession is that I have had wedding dreams for years. The one that sticks out the most was that the ceremony was set up outside and it was particularly windy. Now, the wind was such a big deal that I had the entire altar and chairs turned around 180 degrees so the wind

would instead blow my hair off my face instead of into it. Seriously, these are the things my brain decides to process at night.

Me and my BM's

Am I the only one who reads wedding blogs and giggles every time I see the abbreviation for bridesmaids as "BM"? My grandma definitely used that term to denote a long trip to the bathroom, or a number two if you will. I certainly think more highly of these girls than that, haha. I want to make sure the gifts I get these ladies are personal, and useful. Or at least useful in the sense that most of the goodies will be used after that one day. Obviously, I can't post what I am working on here, since you know, Kendall actually reads my blog and I want her to be surprised. Everyone else better start asap. I also love to craft and decided to make a mix of things and also add a special gifts for each girl. Everybody likes to open multiple presents right. After a few hours working on the first gift for everybody, I would say it was a success! Too bad Tim's groomsmen aren't gonna get cutesy handmade crafts. Right . . . I am sure they would take something I made for them over a video game or comic book. But I don't want to give anything away ;)

Most Exciting Thing Ever . . .

well besides the fact that I am getting married to an awesome dude. I just found my dress. Due to intensive internet research for about oh five months now, I have come across my DREAM dress at less than half the price in.my.size. It is a designer Matthew Christopher gown, shown below

So how did I score such a deal you ask? The internet my friends. I have been searching at preowned wedding dress sites such as, preownedweddingdresses.com, oncewed.com and a few more. So I found an amazing deal, emailed the girl, and volia, I am ordering my dress. BTW my dress has never even been taken out of the bag. NWT, or new with tags for those of you that don't know the lingo. My mom wants to see it on me first, so we are going to this ridiculous boutique since it is the only one in NC that carries this designer.

I called today to schedule an appointment and the saleswoman asked me what my budget was . . . seriously how effing rude! I am sure they don't want to waste my time or theirs if they only carried dresses outside of my price range, but still. Little do they know that I am going to prance around in their designer gown and promptly turn around and buy it online. Sneeky trumps snarky.

The Engagement

He proposed on November 21, 2009. I knew it was coming sometime because I found the ring.

Yes. You read that correctly. Not the actual ring, it was once his mothers and still in its original setting at the time of the discovery. One day as I was doing laundry, and possibly snooping, I felt a square sock. Of course, I looked in it and there was his mom's ring in the sock in the box. hehehe. That was before my birthday in August and later it disappeared. He was not silly enough to hide the ring once it was reset at our apartment for he knows I snoop.

So . . . that weekend in November we went to our hometown about an hour and a half away. Now that I think of it, Tim was playing all this romantic music on the way there. We drove up to his mom's house and went inside. Tim then proceeded to say that we needed to talk the dog for a walk and to get his leash. BIG FLAG. 1. His mom lives in the country and we never put the dog on a leash there. 2. Tim never suggests to walk the dog, haha. So Dos Equis, Tim and I went outside and there it was. I immediately saw my ring. It was just a *blinging* hanging on Dos' collar. It was like a tractor beam pulling me in, I just walked toward it. I squatted down and froze, and Tim bent down and said let me help you. He then told me to stand up (since I was still squatting) "So he could do this right."

He asked me if I would make him the happiest man on earth and marry him :) We hugged, kissed, cried, and then we realized that our dog had ran away during this time. So we were laughing and totally couldn't focus on actually finding him because of the excitement, but he came running out of the wilderness after a few minutes. My dog knows better than to ruin one of the happiest days of our life.

Everyone in our families knew today would be the day, so my mom immediately came over, we called all our friends and then celebrated at Mexican Hardees. Mexican Hardees is really our favorite Mexican restaurant called La Cabana which used to be a Hardees fast food restaurant, but that is what everyone calls it.

So you want to see it right?

That's me and Dos Equis hahaha.
Here is the Bling . . .

It Starts . . .

Okay so actually it started over ten years ago. My fiance and I met in junior high and briefly dated. It was a whirlwind month long romance, ending with me breaking up with him the day after his birthday. Harsh, no doubt but what can I say I was 13? Then in eleventh grade, obviously after much maturity on my part, I faked needing help on my chemistry homework so I would have an excuse to call him. We dated throughout high school and are both NC State alums (Go Wolfpack!) and now are planning our March 5, 2011 wedding in Raleigh, North Carolina. Since we've gotten engaged, I have spent a ridiculous amount of time looking up wedding blogs. One day Tim said, "Tera you spend so much time reading other people's wedding blogs, why don't you make your own." And this of course is one of the reasons I am marrying this guy, he is just full of great ideas. I am so excited to have this wonderful thing called the internet to document the next year, even if the only people that read it are my mom and bridesmaids whom I will force to subscribe to ;)
